Multex Denies Sell-Off, Says First Call Lied; But Others Insist Buyers Were Sought

In a letter disseminated by fax ten days ago, Multex Systems Inc. denied that it has been shopping itself around and slammed competitor First Call Corp. for making "false" statements to IMT sibling publication Inside Market Data regarding Multex's efforts to find a buyer (IMD, Jan. 15 and IMT, Jan. 19).
