Kemper Gives Beta Systems $10 Million To Re-Tool; Rs/6000s To Replace As/400s

Beta Systems Group Inc. is now spending $10 million in upgrade funds it received from parent Kemper Securities Group Inc. earlier this year. Some of the money has been spent on two new IBM mainframes to process quotes and back-office information, as well as on development of an IBM RS/6000 server- and 486 PC workstation-based quote platform to succeed its current AS/400 and dumb terminal Betaquote platform. The RS/6000 will also support back-office processing.
