Charles Schwab & Co. To "Insource" Planned Firmwide Re-Engineering Project

Charles Schwab & Co. is moving off mainframes and re- engineering its work flow to support the growth anticipated in the San Francisco-based firm's five-year business plan. With an IBM RS/6000-based prototype server in development, Schwab's technologists themselves plan in five years to be using distributed processing to move market and customer data around its 150-plus branches.
