He points to a 9 percent growth rate in spending on risk analytics technology among asset managers that contrasts with a 0 to 2 percent growth rate in overall IT spending. While risk analytics technology won't threaten front-office tools, like those for portfolio management, as a competitive edge technology, he does say the perception of its importance is changing. One reason is that the principles and personnel that handled risk for the sell side five to eight years ago are slowly bleeding
