Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co.'s over-the-counter trading unit is installing a NASDAQ trading system that will allow it to make markets in 30% to 40% more issues without additional staff. The new trading system, known as TSX, was co-developed by Smith Barney and New Jersey-based software house Network Concepts Inc. TSX runs on a Tandem Computer Inc. host linked to 80286/80386 DOS or OS/2 microcomputers.
