ISE Scraps Taurus Project, Announces Talisman Upgrade

The International (London) Stock Exchange has bitten the bullet and decided to scrap the TAURUS computerized settlement system, which would have eliminated share certificates.

An exchange steering committee has recommend-ed upgrading the existing TALISMAN central settle-ment system instead of building the TAURUS share registration and ownership transfer system. The recommendation, to be considered by the Council of the Stock Exchange April 3, is almost certain to be accepted.
