Nomura Securities Corp. has zipped to the top of the New York Stock Exchange rankings for program-trading activity. According to NYSE figures, Nomura traded 10.6 million shares using the index arbitrage program-trading strategy during the week of April 22-26. Nomura's ascent to the top of the program-trading ladder follows the emergence of its plans to boost its New York proprietary trading group, established last year (TST, Jan. 28). Nomura also last year brought on board Joseph Schmuckler
