European CCP Expands into Spain

The clearinghouse will initially support multilateral trading facility (MTF) Turquoise, with NYSE Euronext's Smartpool block-trading platform and its NYSE Arca Europe MTF-previously known as Octopus-to follow, says Trevor Spanner, chief operating officer of EuroCCP.

Around 100 equity issues in Spain will be added on Feb. 16 to the approximately 1,500 issues now cleared by EuroCCP in 14 markets in Europe in seven currencies.

Unlike others, the Spanish market requires a process called registration
