Cisco Adds Congestion Monitoring to Low-Latency Switch Family

Networking giant Cisco has released two new low-latency switches in its Nexus 3000 series, targeted specifically at the high-frequency trading community, according to vendor officials.

The Nexus 16-port 3016 and 48-port 3048 switches are optimized for 40 Gbps Ethernet and 1 Gbps Ethernet environments, respectively. Cisco launched its Nexus 3000 line in April 2011 with the debut of the 64-port Nexus 3064, which is optimized for a 10 Gbps Ethernet environment.
