Amir Zaidi, who has been serving as Giancarlo's legal counsel and policy advisor since August 2014, will lead the Division of Market Oversight (DMO). Vincent McGonagle, who most recently served as the director of DMO, will take on the role of acting director for the Division of Enforcement (DOE).

Jeffrey Bandman will leave his post as acting director for the Division of Clearing and Risk (DCR) to become an advisor on financial technology issues. John Lawton, currently the deputy director in the CFTC's DCR, will take over as acting director of DCR.

A specific area of focus for Bandman in his new role, according to a CFTC press release, will be regarding issues around distributed-ledger technology and virtual currency derivatives. During a speech last week, Giancarlo emphasized how important it was for the CFTC to work with fintech firms to help foster innovation.
