Algorithmic trading is taking another big step forward in the foreign exchange (FX) realm with the news this week that the Real Time Division of Progress Software (formerly Apama) has debuted FX trading adaptors for HotspotFXi and EBS (see story, this issue).

The announcement follows news this past summer that EBS now offers an application programming interface (API) to support automated trading strategies (DWT, July 18). Not to be outdone, Portware, a vendor of portfolio-based electronic trading
