JSE to Bring Matching Engine Home

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) is primed to become a hotbed of high-frequency trading as the exchange plans to move its matching infrastructure—which currently resides in London and is operated by the London Stock Exchange (LSE)—back to Johannesburg sometime in the first half of 2012, according to JSE officials.

The JSE inked a deal with matching engine provider MillenniumIT to deploy the vendor's Millennium Exchange. Officials claim it will provide nearly a 400-fold performance
