Pioneer Picks IDS Over Shaw: Moves Portfolio Management In House

The Pioneer Group, Inc., a mutual fund manager based in Boston, has contracted with Integrated Decisions Systems Inc. to install its Investment Manager II portfolio management and accounting system. Pioneer is shedding Shaw Data Services Inc., its service bureau-based supplier in favor of the 386 microcomputer-based IDS package.

Investment Manager II is not only cheaper than Shaw, according to IDS executives, it's better: "The industry trend is definitely away from online systems," says Jerald
