Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. is rolling out a new local area network at its New York headquarters to provide its fixed-income traders with access to real-time market data and to a homegrown portfolio management system. The network will run alongside and eventually replace a Reuters/Rich Inc. video-switch.
The move was aimed in part at cutting Met Life's Telerate bill. Instead of distributing Telerate data through the video-switch, Met Life plans to use the LAN to deliver Knight-Ridder Inc.
