If you can’t be the first, be the best. This is the motto echoing through the halls of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) as it deploys its new low-latency trading architecture across its New York, London and Toronto trading infrastructures.

“We’ve come to the party a bit late,” says Bruce Macdonald, global head of electronic trading and commodities at RBC Capital Markets. “However, this allows us to learn from others’ mistakes and build an infrastructure needed to be a client advocate.”
