S&P Adds Tagged, Linked ‘Alternative’ Data to Xpressfeed for Quant Funds, Banks

Key to deriving value from the data are the linkages and cross-references between each dataset and their components--from companies and securities to individual people.

Though not “alternative” in the same sense as many new datasets being adopted by hedge funds, the data includes tagged and cross-referenced corporate events transcripts, property-level real estate data, as well as bank regulatory and branch data, connected at the company-, instrument-, and individual-level.

“I’m not a big fan of the term ‘alternative data.’ One group’s core fundamental data is another group’s alternative data. It’s really about the use case,”
