Deloitte: Modify Data Apps for Options Symbology Changes

The options symbology initiative, spearheaded by the Options Clearing Corp., has developed a 21-character identifier for options series, replacing the existing three--to-five-character representations devised by the Options Price Reporting Authority 25 years ago. The OCC and the US options exchanges have an Oct. 1 deadline for publishing individual implementation plans.

Trading firms should be evaluating whether systems will need to be modified to accommodate 21-character symbols, as any systems
