INSTINET BUYS STAKE IN ARCHIPELAGO
Reuters Instinet is set to acquire a 16.4 per cent stake in Archipelago, the US-based electronic communication network (ECN) in a move that marks an increasingly consolidating industry. Archipelago, say company spokespeople, is seeking status as a registered stock exchange in its own right, and is a potential candidate for an initial public offering (IPO).
