Aquis CEO Haynes: Feeds Will Stay Free Until Europe Gets Data Shake-Up

Trading venue will not introduce data fees until its free model has pressured incumbents to lower their own fees.

The venue will continue to provide data free of charge until such a point when Aquis can make "a substantial impact" in terms of market share and the ability to influence the cost of data. "We want to reduce the cost of trading for everybody, not increase the price─but it won't be free forever," Haynes says.

This point could come as early as 2017 for Aquis, which has provided Level 1 and Level 2 data for free since the platform launched in 2013, depending on when European markets actually roll
