CESR Chairman Wymeersch Calls for EU Consolidated Tape


Addressing an event organized by Deutsche Börse last week in London, CESR chairman Eddy Wymeersch said that while the introduction of the European Commission's Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) has helped to reduce the cost of trading in Europe, market participants would still benefit from improved data quality, which could be achieved by the introduction of a US-style consolidated tape of data.

Wymeersch told attendees that market forces had still not succeeded in creating
