Mifid's impact on the European markets over the past year has been amazing to watch. From an outsider's perspective, the biggest winners thus far have been the operators of the multilateral trading facilities (MTFs). Since the launch of Turquoise in August, new MTFs have been sprouting up like mushrooms. Just last Friday, Oct. 31, the Bats Europe MTF was able to begin trading a few weeks ahead of what its parent, Lenexa, Kan.-headquartered Bats Holdings, originally planned.
