SSB Rebuilds Front End with EJB

NEW YORK--Salomon Smith Barney (SSB) is reengineering its front-office equity-related trading systems to an architecture based upon standard Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), first in its New York trading operation, with global deployment anticipated by the end of 2003.

With the advent of decimalization and heavily transactional trading methods such as Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) and program trading, the current Unix/C++ systems, written in the early 1990s, are being revamped to handle
