Operating with Bear Bones

Watching the bank integrate its new acquisition will prove interesting to watch considering that there are still a few JPMorgan staffers grumbling about the integration with Chase Manhattan. The bank does have an integration playbook and has a long history of growth through acquisitions.

Most of the acquisitions themselves also grew through mergers. However, Bear Stearns doesn't share a similar history. It had been chugging along quite nicely without major acquisitions.
