Welcome to the Brave New World

Eight years of deregulation will be quickly consigned to the history books. The major question is how firm a hand the new administration and Congress will take with Wall Street. Given the current conditions, I doubt we'll see them impose anything as drastic as another version of Sarbanes-Oxley anytime soon. Everyone is too concerned about unlocking the credit markets to do something so rash so soon.

Speaking of rash actions, one item in last week's U.K. newspaper, The Independent, caught my eye
