Intel Readies Nehalem Processor Line

Dubbed Nehalem, the new processor line will feature a completely redesigned microarchitecture, says George Alfs, spokesperson for Intel. Nehalem is designed to offer end-users faster processing power for greater energy efficiency and lower power costs, says Alfs.

Intel releases major overhauls to its technology every two years as part of its "tic-toc" design and release schedule, according to officials. Intel's design engineer teams re-lay out the microarchitecture's design-moving around things
