LONDON—Exchanges are moving fast to adjust to rapidly changing market structures, revamping IT infrastructures and mulling mergers and IPOs that will reshape the industry as events made clear last week.

Starting with the London Stock Exchange (LSE), the Nasdaq Stock Market appointed London-based investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW) late last week as the broker for its bid to merge with the LSE, an official familiar with the situation tells DWT.
