Wall Street is no stranger to deriving value from open source. Some of the world's largest investment banks have been running system-wide installations of the Linux operating system for more than a decade. Last year's releases of Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Real Time 10 and Red Hat Enterprise MRG (Messaging, Realtime, Grid) have given brokerage firms the reliability, performance and low-latency they need to build entire trading systems.
