Reuters Cuts Market Data Distribution Latency

Reuters says it has slashed latency rates for its next-generation market data distribution platform, the Reuters Market Data System (RMDS).

Reuters officials say that its latest tests have shown RMDS to be capable of market data latencies below one millisecond; the platform can handle 170,000 price updates per second. Specifically, Reuters officials achieved a low of 0.56 milliseconds as well as a two-to-three millisecond range. Customers have been demanding rates of less than five millisecond
