NEW YORK--Market data providers and consumers were directly affected by the World Trade Center disaster, but many had disaster recovery plans that helped them respond quickly.

Pat Tierney, chief executive officer of Thomson Financial, says the company executed a dual disaster recovery effort--first to address the safety of individuals affected and then to restore a sense of security to a city devastated by this "horrific tragedy."
