FBI Investigation May Be Good News For Globex Vote

For Reuters Holdings PLC and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the timing couldn't have been better -- or worse.

News of a two-year federal probe of Chicago's freewheeling futures pits came little more than a week before regulators were due to vote on Globex, the after-hours electronic trading system jointly developed by Reuters and the CME. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission is scheduled to consider Globex at its Feb. 2 meeting.

Although computerized trading raises its own set of security
