TSE President Opposes Instinet In Ontario

Instinet Canada Ltd.'s fate in Ontario is now in the hands of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), following 10 days of hearings on issues raised by the Reuters Holdings PLC subsidiary's application for membership on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TST, Feb. 12). The OSC could reach a decision on whether to allow Instinet to operate in the Canadian province -- as a TSE member or independently -- as early as a month from now.
