This latest exchange pair-off is welcome news in the Nasdaq boardroom after the exchange’s long and painful attempt to acquire the London Stock Exchange (LSE) last year. Now, Nasdaq has a viable European footprint, which it has struggled to establish for a number of years; a sizeable derivatives business; and software and services that give it a foot in the door to another 60 exchanges around the world.

Anyway you slice it, this acquisition is the jewel in Nasdaq’s crown.
