Lapsed LEIs: ‘There's Been a Misunderstanding'
Non-renewed codes are not invalid, say LEI experts
Lapsed legal entity identifiers (LEIs) are not invalid LEIs, Stephan Wolf, CEO of the Global LEI Foundation (GLEIF), said on October 15 at the Sibos conference in Singapore.
"We hear a lot of discussion around this topic. I think there is a misunderstanding. An LEI that has been issued is a valid LEI and the data associated with the LEI is valid," said Wolf, who heads the governing body that oversees LEI issuance.
