IBM has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Platform Computing, in the latest of a series of high-profile purchases for the technology giant.

Platform Computing is a specialist in cluster, cloud and grid management software, aimed at distributed computing environments. Its offerings are designed for resource-hungry activities such as simulations and computer modeling, as well as analytics.
