JPMorgan is one such firm. After the acquisition of Bear Stearns - and in particular its well-established clearing business - the firm's broker-dealer services division was given a cool $100m by chief executive Jamie Dimon to modernise its technology platform. The technologists leading this project describe it as a "technologist's dream", as it means they can rearchitect the platform from the ground up, using all the tools modern technology has to offer.
