Surveillance is getting easier and better. As Joanne Faulkner reports in this issue, firms are using a range of new data and analytics tools to monitor traders for activity that might indicate more serious issues in the same way that traders use analytics to watch for trading opportunities.

With Europe’s MiFID II just one of several regulations on the horizon, regulators are also watching traders closely. In addition, we may soon see them more closely watching so-called RegTech solutions
