Industry Split on Impact of ESMA Data Plan
In a consultation paper released on May 22—which will be open to feedback from the industry until Aug. 1—the Paris-based regulator announced it may adopt one or a combination of the following options: First, it may require data suppliers to publicly disclose information such as price lists and any fee changes; Second, it may impose limits on the amount of revenue that trading venues can derive from market data; And third, it may mandate that trading venues set prices so as to recover no more
