Telerate Trims In Installations; Shuffles Development

In its continuing quest for the perfect organization (not to mention earnings growth), Dow Jones Telerate last week laid off about two dozen staffers, centralized some functions and decentralized others. The vendor has also promoted Ken Herts to senior vice president of technical development.

The expansion of Herts' responsibilities comes at the expense of Telerate's regions, which are led by executive vice president Julian Childs. Where previously the regions included separate development groups
