Instinet Europe, the UK-based arm of institutional broker and ECN Instinet, relaunched its independent research service last week. Like a number of other vendors, it aims to capitalize on the market’s loss of confidence in the reliability and value of broker research.
The move is also an attempt to pre-empt any potential regulatory changes that may force firms to rely less on sell-side research or may lead to the unbundling of research and services and an end to soft commissions. The company
