A number of market data bigwigs are in the process of forming a consortium -- called the Financial Information Forum (FIF) -- that is being positioned as an alternative to the Information Industry Association's Financial Information Services Division. The consortium -- which hopes to attract as its members vendors, securities firms, exchanges, self- regulatory organizations (SROs) and bank professionals -- claims that it will focus less on administrative details than on technological issues.
