ISITC Issues Multi-Listed Identifier Best Practices
Standards organization ISITC has issued best practices standards for multi-listed securities identifiers based on the ISIN code identification standard, and intended to encompass most widely used identifiers including SEDOL, CUSIP, MIC (market identifier code), RIC (the Reuters Instrument Code) and Bloomberg IDs.
"On the settlement side, [firms] definitely want to see ‘place of trade' as the market identifier, but they realize they may not get that downstream, so they see ISIN as a best practice
