Hautekiet Chosen as BNY Mellon SA/NV CEO
Financial services provider BNY Mellon SA/NV, the Bank of New York's continental European arm based in Brussels, has announced Wim Hautekiet as its new chief executive officer, replacing Paul Bodart who is retiring and also joining the European Central Bank's (ECB's) T2S securities settlement harmonization project after 17 years at BNY. Hautekiet's appointment is still pending as it is subject to regulatory approval.
Hautekiet currently serves as deputy general counsel for BNY Mellon across its Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) businesses, having previously served in legal roles at Clearstream International in Luxembourg and JPMorgan. With BNY since 2004, in his new role Hautekiet will be responsible for the bank's range of asset servicing, collateral management, and trustee services offerings.
"Wim Hautekiet has a deep understanding of the investment servicing business across Europe and our client needs, and is very well placed to take our European banking entity to the next level of development," says Gerald Hassell, chairman, president and CEO of BNY Mellon.
