Paying for Mifid

According to a recent white paper (see story, page 1) nearly 95 percent of the buy- and sell-side firms polled expect to get nailed with fines in the first quarter of 2008, and 90 percent believe that they will be signing over additional checks in subsequent quarters.

Now that budget season is upon us, how are firms preparing for Mifid?

It would be great if all project costs and fines could be consolidated into a simple budget-line item, but that will never be the case. Mifid is an enterprise-wide
