NYSE Floor Brokers Get New Handhelds

NEW YORK—DWT has learned that IBM and Micro Design Services (MDS) have partnered to create a new, wireless handheld device for the floor brokers of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

So far, only a handful of the handheld devices—commonly designed for trading purposes—have been distributed to the floor of the Big Board.

"It's the seventh generation of handhelds in seven years, and we've continually expanded the product to increase functionality and enhance usability," says a NYSE spokesperson.
