MarketAxess Completes Xtrakter Acquisition, Appoints Urtheil

Robert Urtheil will head MarketAxess's European and Asian businesses.

The deal went through on March 1 for £25.3 million (approximately $38.5m), following regulatory approval by the UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA).

MarketAxess, which operates an electronic trading platform for US and European corporate bonds, emerging market bonds and other fixed-income securities, has also appointed Robert Urtheil as head of its European and Asian businesses.

Urtheil joins from consultancy Oliver Wyman, where he was a partner and global head of market infrastructure. He also spent 10 years at Deutsche Börse.
