At a panel discussion organized by the New York Society of Security Analysts, Keith McCullough, chief executive and chief investment officer of real-time research provider Research Edge, proposed the adoption of a scoring system that would see users rate a source's reliability, "not unlike ratings of mutual funds from Lipper or Morningstar."
Alex Porter, portfolio manager at hedge fund sponsor Porter Orlin, said there is currently no foolproof way to determine which online sources are reliable
