APFIC 2010: Education, Standardization Must Accompany Index Growth

Increased investment across Asia-Pacific is driving demand for index products to provide investment vehicles for the region, though the industry still faces a range of challenges around index usage and underlying data, panelists said.

“Asia is still a long way behind Europe and the US around how to use indexes, as well as in understanding the difference between active and passive [index strategies],” said Fran Thompson, business development director at SunGard. “A lot more education is needed
