ANNA Suffers Setback Against S&P

A lawyer for the Association of National Numbering Agencies has dealt a blow to ANNA's strategy in its dispute with Standard & Poor's, Inside Market Data has learned.

ANNA has objected to S&P's practice of seeking license fees for the databasing of CUSIP-based ISIN numbers. So at its general meeting in June, the group endorsed the principle of charging only on a cost-recovery basis and set up a taskforce to look into the matter (IMD, June 14).

However, the lawyer has ruled that ANNA went beyond
