Adding to their growing collection of online financial information services, Thomson Financial Networks Inc. has acquired New York-based Global Finance Information Inc.

The acquisition comes in the wake of Thomson's losing battle to purchase MMS International, the online analysis and forecast services provider. In that protracted struggle, Thomson was beaten out by McGraw Hill Inc. with a closing bid reportedly in the $100 million range.
