Primark Officially Buys FT's Extel Fundamentals

LONDON--As expected (IMD, Feb. 15), Primark officially announced that it has acquired the Extel company fundamental data business and the Extel brand name from Pearson's Financial Times Group (FTG). The purchase was priced at $32 million in cash; the acquired business had revenues of approximately $18 million in 1998.

Through the deal, Primark will now own the well-known Extel Cards, along with a database of company profiles, company accounts and a company news operation that tracks newswires
